BELLFLOWER (CBSLA.com) — A suspect is dead following a pursuit and officer-involved shooting in Bellflower early Tuesday morning.
According to authorities, the driver of a dark SUV led the Fullerton Police Department on a pursuit around 2:30 3 a.m.
Police chased the suspect through Orange County to Bellflower, ending in cul-de-sac off Artesia Boulevard and Palo Verde Avenue, near the 91 Freeway, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials said.
Witnesses reported hearing approximately a dozen gunshots.
The unidentified suspect suffered a fatal gunshot wound and died at the scene, officials said.
Authorities are not releasing what prompted the pursuit or the officer-involved shooting.
No officers were injured.
The Los Angeles and Orange county sheriff departments are assisting in the investigation.
