Extended Metro Rail Hours Take Effect Friday

DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES – Starting on Friday, it will now be easier to visit — or get out of — Downtown later at night.

Metro has extend rail service on Friday and Saturday nights until 2 a.m. Trains on the Red, Blue, Green, Gold and Expo lines will run every 20 minutes between midnight and about 2 a.m..

Before the change, the last Red Line train leaving Union Station en route to North Hollywood departed at 12:17 a.m. Now, late-night barflies in Downtown have enough time to make last call and still catch a ride home — last Red Line train leaves Union Station at 2:12 a.m..

The extended hours apply to all of the subway and lightrail lines.

The last Blue Line train to South L.A. and Long Beach departs Seventh St./Metro Center at 2:07 a.m.; the final Expo Line train to USC and Culver City now leaves Seventh St./Metro Center at 2:12 a.m. The last northbound Gold Line to Pasadena departs from the Little Tokyo station at 2:03 a.m. and the southbound Gold Line train to Boyle Heights and East L.A. departs at 2:16 a.m.

Metro will also offer special, even later hours on Aug. 3 and 4 to accommodate attendees of the Hard Summer music festival at Los Angeles State Historic Park, which is adjacent to the Chinatown Gold Line station.         

For that weekend, the last northbound Gold Line train will depart Union Station at 2:39 a.m.; the last Red and Purple Line trains will depart Union Station at 2:42 a.m. and 2:47 a.m. respectively; the last Blue Line train will leave from Seventh St./Metro Center at 2:57 a.m. and the last Expo Line train will depart from Seventh St./Metro Center at 2:54 a.m. The last Green Line train will connect with the Blue Line at 3:30 a.m. and the last Orange Line bus will leave North Hollywood at 3:18 a.m. Check metro.net for the most up-to-date information.
