LAGUNA HILLS (CBSLA.com) — A Laguna Hills mother was arrested Monday for allegedly leaving her 2-month-old son inside a hot, sweltering car.
Fernanda Marina Gomes-Sotozono, 34, was reportedly shopping at a Victoria’s Secret inside a Laguna Hills mall while her child was inside the car with the windows down, according to Jim Amormino of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Police got a call about the child around 1:15 p.m.
“When deputies arrived, the mother attempted to drive off,” Amormino said. “She was in the mall for at least 35 minutes.”
The baby was checked by paramedics and was okay.
The suspect was booked on suspicion of felony child endangerment.
