Authorities Looking For Person Who Tied Turtle To Balloons

OCEANSIDE (CBSLA.com) — Someone duct-taped a turtle to balloons and sent him soaring into the sky.

Now, Oceanside police want to know who is responsible.

A resident was outraged by what he saw and video taped the turtle as it was swinging it arms, trying to get out.

Soon after, the large, green balloons got caught up in some trees and firefighters rescued the reptile.

“I bet it was terrified — dangling back and forth because the wind was pushing it side to side,” said Joel Rabago, who saw the dangling turtle.

“It’s animal abuse. I mean, if you didn’t want the turtle give it away, take it to a pet store. There’s lots of agencies for turtles,” Chanelle Wright.

Authorities said the person who did this could face animal cruelty charges.
